Our History  Its hard to believe Music Power started in someone's garage back in 1975. That's where the original 'Music Power' had to finally move from, to where it's located today. Ed Chwekun was asked by his wife to move out all the guitars that covered the garage, the living room and sofas, dining room, kitchen, hallways and eventually the bedroom that filled their house. Now, millions of dollars of guitar gear pass through these doors every year.
Music Power has become the nucleus of guitar and music activity in San Diego County for over 30 years. No where else do you see such a vast collection of guitar related products and music product experts. Anytime of day one can wander in to our San Diego Showroom and try any guitar "hands on" while listening in on the most knowledgeable guitar 'talk'. No where else will you find guitar sales, lessons, repairs and rentals all under one roof. We have come a long ways since Danny Aster first nailed his pizza on the wall. To this day, people still come in and talk about buying their guitar off the sofa or the kitchen. They talk about asking their mom to drive them clear across town just to get strings 3 for 1. They talk about the first guitar they ever bought from us, back in "the day". They talk about the bands they played in, the local bands and players that made it to the top, on to fame and fortune, they talk about their dreams they had, but mostly... they talk about....guitars. No one ever wants to leave Music Power. As Danny Aster once quipped, 'there is no life after Music Power'. For some unexplainable reason, this store has a life of its own. No other store has ever reached this height of loyalty, emotion, and passion among its enthusiasts and employees.

Although this is just the tip of the iceberg of the history of Music Power, we would like to leave you with a few names you might remember, without which Music Power would not be what it is today.
